Hon.Ayodele Akande, FCA declaring open the "Supervision Mission" Interactive Session organized by AFBD, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Finance for Management of the Ondo State Water Corporation,Contractor and Consultant on The Owena Dam Rehabilitation and Reticulation as Ondo State Water Investment Project

The entire machinery propelling the activities of the Ondo State Ministry of Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene was literally put on hold for three days by the presence of the “Task Masters” from Abuja who were on a “Supervision Mission” to Ondo State
Though the engagement with the Task Masters are majorly targeted on the Ondo State Water Corporation which is the Agency saddled with the responsibility to produce potable, qualitative and clean water to the urban residence of Ondo State.

The “Task Master” which is the revered accolades that the African Development Bank Group,AFDB, a premier multilateral developmental finance institution wholly devoted to promote economic growth and reduce poverty across Africa are usually referred to within the Nigerian Water Sector Team led by Dr.Nkube are currently in Ondo State for a “Supervision Mission in Ondo State” arrived on Tuesday evening to Akure.
Dr.Nkube and his Team were not also alone on this mission but were accompanied by officials from the Federal Project Implication Unit,FPIU of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation,FMWRS led by Engr.Nafiu Kazeem,the National Coordinator of the Urban Water Projects and the Federal Ministry of Finance was also represented by Dr.Mrs.Akande respectively.
These Team,just like every other investor will not allow their investments to withered if per-adventure they keep their eyes off from given adequate supervisions to their beneficiaries.
The first point of call by the visiting Task Masters was a call on the office of the Honourable Commissioner For Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene,Hon.Ayodele Akande,FCA to brief him of their mission to Ondo State.

Both the AFDB and FMWS Team were received by Hon. Akande in his office with the support of the General Manager, GM of Ondo State Water Corporation, ODSWC,Engr.Vincent Omoge who led the Management of the Project Implemention Unit,PIU to receive and interact with the Task Masters Team.
The AFDB Team said they were on a mandatory oversight function which is tagged “Supervision Mission to Ondo State”
They explained that this Supervision Mission to Ondo State is to a certain the level of not only preparedness on the projects but to also see the level of success already achieved and recorded on the ongoing rehabilitation project of Owena Multipurpose Dam.
The AFDB Team extensively briefed the Commissioner on the purpose of their Supervision Mission to Ondo State which they said is a fundamental part of their oversight functions to embark on quarterly visits to monitor the level of work done and progress recorded on sites of the projects that they funded.
The Hon. Comm., Akande thanked the AFDB TEAM and the representative of the Federal Ministries of Water Resources and Finance appreciating them for their keen interest towards making the Owena Dam Rehabilitation and Reticulation Projects a huge success.

It could be recalled that the reticulation and rehabilitation of the Owena Multipurpose Dam Project was funded through counterpart funding by the AFDB, Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Ondo State Government, ODSG.
Akande also used the opportunity to reiterate the commitment of the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to see the Owena Dam Rehabilitation project to bed and on other impactful projects.
After the briefing with the Task Masters, Hon.Akande led them to the construction site for the proposed Water House, Engineering Workshop and Laboratory within Ondo State Water Corporation Area Office at Nepa Area,complex in Akure.
On Wednesday, Hon. Akande led the entire Management staff of the Corporation most especially the Project Implementation Unit accompanied by the visiting Task Masters to the old Owena- Ondo East and the Igbara-oke Dam complexes.
On Thursday and Friday the Task Masters held an interactive session with the management of the PIU Dept of the ODSWC,all the representatives of the Consultants and contractors handling the various aspects of the projects.
The AFDB Team also visited the proposed sites of the reservoirs,the water schemes and the contractors yards.
The AFDB Task Masters reaffirmed their commitment to see the Owena Dam project to be delivered as a word class project which necessitated their Supervision Mission to Ondo State.
All the global standards prerequisites guilding the project are all what they have come to check as it is still at the inception so they can give it a solid footing.
They also said it is also necessary for the Team to visit the Ondo State to coordinate and offer technical assistance and support to all the parties involved in the project.
The AFDB Team gave a global view of the impacts the Owena Project is expected to make on the lives of the people which is beyond provision of potable water to the people only.
They said the NEEDS assessment concerning the project is far beyond just providing water but alongside other contingencies are taken care which makes it a water investment project that will also empower the residents.
