Gov.Lucky Aiyedatiwa approved multi-million dollar Water Contract for Owena Dam Reticulation Project to Akure metropolis through Commissioner for Ondo State Ministry of Water Resources, Public Sanitation and Hygiene Honourable Ayodele Akande, FCA,

A new vista of Hope Renewal For Urban Water Supply and a huge step towards the realization of KÁMOMI ÌRÒRÙN Initiative for Akure and metropolis was laid recently.
The Executive Governor, Dr.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa led Ondo State Government,has given a huge boost to the Ondo State Water Sector under the watch of Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Water Resources,Public Sanitation and Hygiene, Hon.Ayodele Samson Akande, FCA who led the Management Team to append their signatures on the Multi-million dollar Contract Agreement Document covering the project.
Hon.Akande with the cooperation and support of the Administrative Secretary, AS Princess Victoria Adetoye and the General Manager, Water Corporation, Engr. Remigius Ogunjobi, led the management Staffs, Contractor and Consultants to officially break the jinx of nearly a decade stagnation of the project due to years of abandonment.

This project titled National Urban Water Sector Reform Project, NUWSRP and Ondo State Urban Water Supply Project, OSUWSP was initiated since December,2017 and Co- Financed by Ondo State Government, and Agence Française de Développement, (AFD) has just been reactivated by the current administration.
According to Hon. Akande,”the official signing of this project contract documents between ODSG through Ondo State Water Corporation, and the CGC, a Foreign Contractor signalled a huge step towards the realization of “Kámomi Ìròrùn” in about 7 Local Government Areas in Ondo State, namely:
Akure South & North, Ondo East &West, Idanre, Ifedore and Ile-Oluji Okeigbo, being the first phase of the project.
“I am very excited with the magnanimity of Mr.Gov. who gave express approval to the award of this multi-million dollar Contract to provide water for the people of Akure and metropolis.
This is a positive development signifying that the Governor mean business and very serious about this move through our ministry is gearing that is geared towards the realization of one of this government most Impactful critical sector driven initiative on Our EASE Agenda for every home tohave access to portable, qualitative and safe pipe borne water supply”
“This possibility has renewed our hope as the head of Ondo State Water Sector to fulfill a long overdue expectations of this life improvement venture to for our people to have access to safe, clean and potable drinking water”
Akande submitted that, “this is a good news that must be exciting to all the residents of Akure and environ, as they look forward to drinking portable water from public taps again under Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s regime.

The Consultant for the Project, SGI Consortium who developed and nurtured the project from conceptualisation at embryonic to the present stage were physically represented during the signing program
The Contractual Agreement between the Client,ODSG represented by ODSWC General Manager, GM,Engr.Remigious Ogunjobi and Mr.Shan signed for CGC Nigeria Ltd (a Chinese Company currently at the forefront of high tech infrastructural development in Nigeria) was finalised.
The project objective targeted towards the improvement financial viability of the water utility and support in the governance of the water Sector in Ondo State.
To achieve this objective, the project is technically divided into various segments like full rehabilitation, modification, and commissioning of Owena Water Treatment Plant,WTP, providing conveyance infrastructure to the Central Senatorial District and enduring distribution to a part of the Southern District respectively.
In conclusion, Akande assured the residents that both the Contractors and the Consultants will resume to site to commence the project in earnest.
